CopyTranscript privacy policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026

CopyTranscript reads the transcript of the YouTube video you are watching and shows it next to the video.

Free version: no account, no analytics and no tracking. The transcript and the video title are requested from youtube.com by your own browser, the same way YouTube's "Show transcript" button does it. Copy and Download happen entirely on your computer.

Your Library: transcripts of videos you open are saved in the extension's storage on your computer. Remove any video from the Library page, or everything by uninstalling the extension.

If you sign in or buy Pro: we store your email address, your Pro status, and a hashed sign-in session on our servers (Cloudflare and Neon, in the United States). Sign-in codes are emailed to you and stored only as a hash for 10 minutes.

Pro Library sync: with Pro, the transcripts in your Library (video id, title, channel, transcript text and timestamps, and the date you saved it) are copied to our servers so they sync between your computers and so AI assistants you connect can search them. We don't record what else you watch or browse. Removing a video from your Library removes it from our servers too.

AI assistants: if you connect Claude or another assistant, it can read your synced Library using the key you create. Revoke access by signing out everywhere or contacting us.

Payments: Stripe processes payments. We receive your email, plan and payment status from Stripe; we never see your card. See stripe.com/privacy.

Deleting your data: email support@copytranscript.com and we'll delete your account and synced Library.

What else it stores locally: whether the panel is collapsed, your preferred view, and your sign-in session.
